Reading for fun in Library School

During college, I tried to read for fun, but I had such a hard time finding time to do it. Last summer, I read voraciously. If something looked interesting, I scooped it up. I reread the J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and several other books — I couldn’t pass up a memoir that caught my eye.

So when I started school, I desperately tried to keep reading for fun. And when I started my job at Acquisitions, the list of my books ‘to-read’ grew exponentially. I now try to read at least a book a week. I keep a list of the books I’ve read and the books I want to read on www.LibraryThing.com. My username is heidifk. I try to star and tag the books I’ve read in hopes that some day I’ll be able to give recommendations if people ask me. I don’t necessarily have a type or specific genre of book that I enjoy reading, so I think that’s helpful when recommending books to people.

I would thank my bank account — for not allowing me the ability to afford a television — but I honestly think I’d rather soak up the scenes and characters and plot of a good book rather than a television show.

P.S. I try to check out books from the library as often as I can, but it is difficult to pass up second-hand copies of books I’ve been aching to read.
